The USPHL Premier Elmira Impact have announced that Glen Patterson will be the team’s next head coach. Patterson was part of the coaching staff which guided the Elmira Impact to the number 1 seed in the Mid Atlantic as they advanced all the way to the USPHL Premier National Championship last season.

“I have seen and felt as a player how much the Elmira fans and community support local hockey,” Patterson said. “They embraced the Elmira Impact even though Covid forced us to play nearly our entire season on the road. I love playing here and I am thrilled by the opportunity to coach here.”

“I guarantee our fans one thing: We will play an exciting brand of hockey bringing one hundred percent effort on every shift every night,” Patterson continued. “With our fan support, a first-class facility in First Arena, and the player amenities we offer, we can build on the success of last season.”

Patterson will assume his coaching duties at the close of his professional playing career with the FPHL Elmira Enforcers, who begin the Ignite Cup Finals at home this Friday. A native of Cobden, Ontario, Patterson is the captain of the Enforcers and has played more than 250 professional games during a six-year playing career in the United States, Sweden, and New Zealand.

“Glen played a big role in what we achieved in our first season,” noted Elmira Impact President Tim Kolpien. “He and his staff will take our program and our players to even greater heights both on and off the ice in the coming season. We can’t wait to get started.”

The Elmira Impact will drop the puck on the 2021-22 USPHL Premier season this coming fall at First Arena.
